Wolf Among Black Sheep

And here's that character card I promised! :-3

The Vought F4U Corsair is probably one of the most iconic looking carrier based aircraft of the second world war thanks to its unmistakable gull wing profile.  Finishing up the war with an estimated 11:1 kill ratio, the Japaense considered it one of, if not, the most dangerous plane they had to fight against.  Funny enough, the entire intent of the Corsair was to be an effective carrier based fighter, yet it was one of the hardest carrier based aircraft to successfully land on a carrier.  Go figure lol

And then for Corsair the pegasus  :

Corsair actually never enlisted in the Wonderbolts.  Corsair joined the Royal Equestrian Air Force on a whim back when he finished Flight Academy. Corsair was a star Hoofball player for the Academy, and joining the REAF's divisional team was far too enticing for him. If the mares would be impressed by a Hoofball player, he'd only be all the more irresistable if he was a player for the REAF  .  

While not originally planned, Corsair was soon introduced to what it meant to be a soldier.  He was met to a rude awakening when joining the guard, where his drill sergeants made sure to knock his jocky chip off his shoulder...mostly.  After awhile, Corsair found the Guard's strong moral empahsis on teamwork and comradarie more than appealing.  Heck, that was right up his alley!  Soon after finishing Basic, he was inspired to join Royal Officer Candidate School, and was more than qualified to do so.  The military lifestyle resonated with Corsair.  His charismatically charged passion, combined with the handful of trophy's he helped snag for the Guard's Hoofball team, soon earned him the respect of many in the REAF, especially at the Cloudsdale base. 

Corsair's Cutie Mark is a black ram charging out of a storm cloud.  This is based on Marine Attack Squadron 214, or The Black Sheep Squadron, one of the most decorated and legendary of all Corsair squadrons of the second world war.  Interestingly, they were primarily land based, so they didn't have to worry about those challenging carrier landings   

I went with a ram instead of a sheep because....well sheep aren't really that intimidating >_> Which is what Squadron 214 thought too, as there's a black ram on their insignia  

Arists notes:
I felt the need to stretch some creative muscles a bit. I intentionally keep the WOF pages a bit watered down in detail, so as to not get too lost in detail work.  I felt like tweaking Corsair's hair a bit, adding more fringes.
And I was inspired to do a sunset background whilst thinking up what would be a cool scene I haven't painted yet. And lo and behold, color theory!!! Blues and oranges naturally go well together!!! (As any Battlefield cover art could tell you that  )
